The “brains” behind Simrad autopilot systems is the Simrad Continuum algorithm. The software algorithm was developed over years of research and testing in water and is now capable of optimising steering control for the control characteristics of vessels of varying sizes and used for diverse applications.
Simrad offers a complete portfolio of systems to implement autopilot on vessels of all sizes. These include:
Autopilot computers: Sends signals to the drive units to steer the vessel based on input from rudder feedback units and the course set by the crew.
Drive units: Actuators that adjust the rudder or the outboard motor settings based on signals from the autopilot.
Rudder Feedback Units: Used to get precise rudder angle measurements for the autopilot computer.
Multifunction Integrated Displays: Allows the crew to view and adjust the autopilot settings. Allows crews to set course and waypoints.
Remote controls: To allow the crew to control the vessel from different onboard stations.
Additional components: Electronic compass to give accurate directional information to the autopilot computer.
Maritronics is one of the leading distributor and integrator of Simrad’s autopilot systems for vessels of all sizes and categories. Our team of experts have worked with Simrad’s RADAR systems for operators all over the world.
