Intelligent Wind Alarm System IWAS P1250
The Walker P1250, or Intelligent Wind Alarm System (IWAS), is a compact, stylish unit that may be readily incorporated into existing bridge or control room consoles. The system features an easy-to-operate interface with touch-sensitive buttons to scroll through intuitive menu options. The system's principal function is to monitor wind speed when vessels are berthed at a quayside. If the wind speed exceeds a pre-set adjustable level, the IWAS unit activates visual and audible alarms to alert the operator. The system can also automatically shut down selected plant and machinery, continuing to monitor the wind conditions until they have abated to a safe level. By this means, accidents, injuries to personnel, and damage to ships, quaysides, and the environment, i.e., oil spills caused by rough sea swells, are avoided.
