U-MICS – Ship-Land Integrated Information System for Ship Tracking
The Ship-Land Integrated Information System (U-MICS) allows land-based offices to easily track the position of ships using a map interface, so that it is easy to map positions. The system reduces communication costs by sending messages via Internet mail and will require no extra hardware at the office, just a PC connected to the Internet. Ships are equipped with simple devices, which can be easily installed on new ships. Data are exchanged across divisions via office intranet or Internet with simple communication and coordination.
